24 Ton Inspection Gantry Crane

Project Overview

Feature Project: CHENAB BRIDGE – 24-TON INSPECTION GANTRY CRANE

Designed for the world’s highest railway arch bridge, this 24-ton capacity gantry crane ensures safe and efficient inspection and maintenance.

Precision Engineering: Custom-built for extreme geography. This crane is used for inspection of the Chenab bridge structure from the bottom side by the Northern Railway Engineers to board a platform at an elevation of 185 meters from the valley below. With the help of 2 Nos Luffing winches and 4 nos heavy duty lifting winches with extreme safety, the inspection platform shall be hoisted to the top most level below the bridge close to its bottom structure for the engineers to inspect the condition of the steel structure of the bridge. The crane would also travel a travel length of 800 meters in long travel motion on the bridge for the engineers to get the complete glimpse of the bridge in longitudinal direction. In addition to the motor, gearboxes and input brakes, there are Caliper brakes also provided on the rope drum output shafts to operate with PLC software to arrest any free fall of the platform and to avoid any sudden failure of the hoisting mechanism while the inspection of the bridge is in operation.

- High Performance: Handles 24 tons of Hoisting & lowering operation of the inspection platform with 11 meter long Luffing booms on both sides of the LT rail to move the booms up & down for the inspection platform to get the specific positions for the inspection team to inspect the Piers, Arch and Trussle structures of the Chenab bridge.
